The history behind the Wedding Plate Poem dates back to the early 1960s. I needed a special wedding gift, but had little money to spend. How, I wondered, could I give the couple something they would remember and perhaps cherish?

As necessity is so often the mother of invention, I wrote the poem. I then bought an inexpensive but pretty plate and packed it with the poem handwritten on a small card inside.

My gift was the hit of the day, with everyone! So many years later, the couple's plate is unbroken and hangs on a wall inside their home. Since its humble beginnings, the poem has been copyrighted and the first Wedding Plate Poem plate was sold on eBay on May 25, 2000. Our web site debut was two years later. Since then, Wedding Plate Poem plates have been shipped worldwide, and to The White House too!

In keeping with the original "essence" of the plate and poem, we strive to keep our plate prices as low as possible. I still decorate each plate myself and most buyers email us that their plate is "so much nicer in person!"
